Donald Trump has not only won the election, but also a decade long trademark dispute in China for the right to use his name for a variety of real estate services reports Wall Street Journal.

Currently, the Trump trademark is used to sell products that are not owned by Trump. Some of those products include ammunition, explosives, poker cards and condoms.

According to WSJ, of the 53 registered trademarks under the Trump name in China, only 21 are actually owned by Trump.

International Intellectual Property Lawyers in Thailand specialize in trademark registration and enforcement in Thailand

The lawsuit started when Trump’s application to register his Trump trademark in China had been rejected due to the fact that another man, Dong Wei had previously applied to register the same trademark.

The report says that since Trump was unknown to majority of the Chinese population at the time, it was a fair ruling. After several repeated attempts, Donald Trump finally won the right to a Trump trademark for his real estate business soon after he won the U.S presidential election.

AshleyMadison.com is facing a $578 million class-action lawsuit following the recent hack that has exposed details of everyone to ever register on the site. Two Canadian law firms have filed the suit against Avid Dating Life and Avid Life Media – the Toronto based owners of the website that enables extra-marital affairs, reports Time.

A key omission! Image Credit: brett jordan (Flickr)

Ashley Madison had their databases hacked into last month by ‘The Impact Team’, a hacking group that claim Ashley Madison has been untruthful to customers. Ashley Madison offers a ‘full delete’ option for $19, which supposedly removes any trace of prior registration. The Impact Team claimed they were not deleting the details as promised, and threatened to leak all details unless Ashley Madison went offline.

The site did not bow to the threats, and true to their word, The Impact Team have published customer information online from March 2008 until this year. Approximately 36 million email addresses have been exposed, as well as the customers’ full names, credit card details, address and personal messages.

The two Canadian law firms — Charney Lawyers and Sutts, Strosberg LLP — filed the lawsuit on Thursday on behalf of Canadians who are “outraged” that their privacy has been breached.

The firms released a statement saying: “Numerous former users of AshleyMadison.com have approached the law firms to inquire about their privacy rights under Canadian law […] They are outraged that AshleyMadison.com failed to protect its users’ information. In many cases, the users paid an additional fee for the website to remove all of their user data, only to discover that the information was left intact and exposed.”

So far The Impact Team hackers seem exempt from legal action, with just website owners Avid Life Media and Avid Dating Life under fire.

The lawsuit still needs to be certified by the court.

Two noodle companies in San Francisco are facing off over the restaurants’ names and logos, according to Inside Scoop SF.

Chubby Noodle, established in 2011 filed a trademark lawsuit against Fat Noodle, a newcomer to theSan Francisco dining scene expected to open later this year.

In the suit, Chubby Noodle claims that Fat Noodle’s name—which they point out is a combination of a synonym for “chubby” and the identical word “noodle”—plus the mirrored concept noodle bowl logo are “confusingly similar.”

Chaninat and Leeds’ business lawyers are experts on Thailand trademark registration for national and international corporate clients and private individuals.

Chubby Noodle’s biggest beef appears to be that this confusing similarity creates unfair competition and trafficking on the brand they’ve already built, reports Inside Scoop SF.

“Fat Noodle is a completely different concept from Chubby Noodle, and will have very focused, clean, and traditional foods using the highest quality products available,” stated Fat Noodle in a response to the lawsuit. “If anything, the owners of Chubby Noodle are trying to use our good name and press to enhance their own. Their claims are without merit.”

The Malaysia Insider reported that an Illinois judge has dismissed a U.S. law firm’s motion to produce evidence of manufacturing and design defects from Boeing and Malaysian Airlines related to Malaysian Airline flight MH370, the flight that disappeared three weeks ago.

Chaninat & Leeds Thai and US attorneys, specializing in Thailand Personal Injury Law

In ruling to dismiss the motion for evidence, Cook County Judge Kathy Flanagan also threatened to impose sanctions against Ribbeck Law firm if they file future motions without a legal basis. Judge Flanagan noted that there were previous instances where the Chicago law firm has filed previous petitions with no legal basis. The Malaysia Insider speculated that the law firm’s actions were possibly a publicity stunt.

A lawyer speaking of behalf of Ribbeck Law confirmed that although they were yet to review the judgment, it certainly would not dissuade them from filling future motions.
